Google’s push toward innovation and their emphasis on improving the user experience continues with the rollout of Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP). Launched last week, AMP is a slimmed-down version of HTML that allows for faster loading of web pages on mobile devices. It’s believed to be Google’s response to Facebook’s “Instant Articles”. Many other social media companies are part of this project, such as Twitter, Pinterest, and LinkedIn. Speed is the name of the game; making web pages load almost instantaneously benefits both users and web publishers. Sites using AMP HTML will no doubt be looked upon favorably by Google’s algorithms.
